maternity swimsuits: to bikini or not to bikini?

Once upon a time and four years ago, when I was pregnant with my third baby, I decided to opt for a maternity bikini (aka pregkini.) Although some may disagree, I felt I had done my time in my tent-like tankinis and felt it necessary to wear my bikini. I even applied a belly tattoo to boot. Being notorious for having a great degree of tunnel vision, I soon strolled onto the beach with my two kids, husband and 90 bags in tow...not noticing the 30 people probably staring at my 44-inch waist. Despite all of the above, I felt the best I had felt in a long time. No clingy fabrics against my belly, just the warmth of the sun...aahhhh. Needless to say, maternity styles have come a very long way since the turtleneck, knee-length swimsuit. I say, if you feel good, you look good. And it my head, I was the best looking one on that beach... So, as Nike would put it: Just go for it!
